Week 3- Campus and OSU Baseball Game

Image
Oregon State's number 13, TJ Wheeler, warms up before his turn at bat against Long Beach State. He's looking to capitalize on the nice Friday afternoon and break the 1st inning tie. Goss Stadium, located on OSU campus, recognizes Jackie Robinson day as two outfielders warm up between the 1st and the 2nd inning.  The Long Beach State hitter looks to his sideline and tosses his bat to hype up his teammates after a hit on OSU pitcher Will Frisch. The sun starts to go down on McNary Field Park and birds sing in the background as I enjoy a walk through my favorite part of campus.

Lessons From the Gridiron

Growing up my parents didn’t force me to do much. I had my chores around our small farm and house, but I made a lot of my own choices. When middle school came around, I discovered a lot of my friends didn’t have the same freedom. Their parents forced them to join clubs, try out a sport, or be more involved at their church.  I was always appreciative of how my parents raised me. I did, however, feel a little jealous of my friends. It sounded fun to be a part of something. When I heard that one of my friends was joining the football team, I knew it was my cue. We signed up together and the rest is history. That first year I played, way back in 2015, we kicked some serious ass. Our team went undefeated and I made memories I will carry with me forever. Our coaches were a ragtag group of loud dads that were passionate about their kids and the sport. Coach Kaumans was a short, muscular man with a salt and pepper beard. His dark sunglasses and flat-bill were as consistent as his temper, all

Josiah's Feature Writing Intro Blog

About me : My name is Josiah Gunn and I am a freshman who is duel enrolled at OSU and LBCC. I am currently undeclared, but I think I want to work in the sports journalism field. I live in Corvallis, Oregon, but grew up in Blodgett near the coast. Growing up, I helped around our family farm, wrote, and hiked. I still enjoy all those things and now have added physical activities like working out and playing basketball to my schedule. I took this class to get better at writing so that future employers are more impressed by my work. I am most excited to learn about how to incorporate people's quotes and stuff I got from interviews more effectively into my writing.

Week 1 P.J

About me : My name is Josiah Gunn and I grew up in Blodgett, Oregon. I was raised on a chicken farm about thirty minutes from the coast by Nate and Mary Gunn, my parents. I lived with my sister and them, plus our four cats and one dog. Currently, I am undeclared and am dual-enrolled at OSU. Hopefully by the end of this class I will have found out if photo-journalism, specifically, is for me. Right now I think I am going to go into the sports journalism field. Ever since I was a little kid I have loved sports and taking pictures. We lived in a forest, so I had ready access to lots of beautiful scenery. My experience with taking photos is pretty much limited to that. I love and have always loved the feeling of taking a photo and realizing it turned out really good. Most of the pictures I take are on my phone are there because I thought something in the moment looked cool. With this class, I'd like to try and take that passion a little farther and explore the details of photography a
