Photographer of the Week- Bob Martin

Bob Martin

Bob Martin is one of the worlds most renowned sports photographer. He has been taking amazing photos in the sports world for about the last 30 years. He's been at the last 15 Olympics, according to his website bobmartin.com, and even went to the most recent 2022 games in China. The event he is most known for is the Wimbledon, though. He has been going to the Wimbledon , which happens to be the oldest and most prestige among tennis tournaments,  since 1982.Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Championship by Bob Martin

Bob Martin's 1/1000th: The Sports Photography of Bob Martin is a look back at a sports photography career so far (PHOTOS).

Bob Martin has worked under some of the biggest names in the magazine industry while taking pictures at these huge games and events. He bounced between Sports Illustrated, Time and Life magazine. It was more than his ability to capture a moment perfectly that helped him work with some of the greatest companies in his profession. In an interview about his work, Bob one said, " You've got to keep reinventing yourself or you'll become a dinosaur." This quote shows up in his work with how diverse his pictures are. Every photo is unique and feels like its in a vacuum.

In my opinion this is the best example of his work and it happens to be my favorite too. The way he is able to consistently find the best angle to take the shot is inspiring.  He'll find wherever he needs to be to capture the moment the best and that is something I look up to. Just from looking at his photos and reading about him, he's taught me something that he constantly reminds the rest of the field. By only putting what is important to the context in our shots, we can let the naturally dramatic part of sports shine through.
