Week 5 Enviromental Portrait

 





Nathan Gunn is a blacksmith that lives in Blodgett, Oregon. He is the owner of a small business Burntwoods Forge that creates custom peices of metal for anything from railings to bottle openers. All of his products are made in the forge pictured above and by his hands. He discovered blacksmithing about 5 years ago and hasn't been able to think about anything else since. He spends most of his time working in his repurposed automotive shop listening to EDM and reggae music. He also enjoys taking care of the farm his family lives on and spending time with his wife Mary and his daughter Maggie.

Week 1 P.J

 About me : My name is Josiah Gunn and I grew up in Blodgett, Oregon. I was raised on a chicken farm about thirty minutes from the coast by Nate and Mary Gunn, my parents. I lived with my sister and them, plus our four cats and one dog. Currently, I am undeclared and am dual-enrolled at OSU. Hopefully by the end of this class I will have found out if photo-journalism, specifically, is for me. Right now I think I am going to go into the sports journalism field. Ever since I was a little kid I have loved sports and taking pictures. We lived in a forest, so I had ready access to lots of beautiful scenery. My experience with taking photos is pretty much limited to that. I love and have always loved the feeling of taking a photo and realizing it turned out really good. Most of the pictures I take are on my phone are there because I thought something in the moment looked cool. Corvallis Farmer's Market

     One of the staples of the Corvallis community is the local Farmer's Market. 1st Street turns into a melting pot of locally sourced products every Wednesday and Saturday morning for 32 weeks out of the year. I personally have many memories of getting popsicles by the park, running in the rain to grab a fresh loaf of bread, and playing in the water nearby with my family.                                                           The three guarantees in life are death, taxes, and it's going to rain in Oregon. Thankfully, that doesn't stop the shoppers or vendors from still showing. Wednesday markets usually have different shops open and have a little less of a lively feel.
